about

Consonant Drift was a show assembled by Patrick Weston to share the new Eat Tapes release from his band, Ou Où, plus other recent releases from the label that hadn't yet had a release event. The show featured Tom Buckholz's live video manipulations accompanying solo sets from Jake Leech, Syna So Pro, Travis Bursik (the other half of Ou Où), Kevin McDermott (CaveofswordS), Mikey Wehling (...& the Reverbs), and myself.

I've recently switched from mountains of out-board gear to a MacBook Pro running Ableton Live and being controlled by Akai's APC40, MPD26, and MPKmini, plus a Korg nanoKONTROL2.

Before my set finished, my system crashed and the music cut out suddenly. Not only did this make the set a bust (or at least ruin any graceful re-entry I'd intended), but it also swallowed the recording being done within Live.

I'd done a few demo takes of the piece earlier that day, partly to hone in on the idea I had, but mostly to test the recording feature. However, since the set I actually did was not recorded, these alternate takes fill in for it well enough.
